Q:

HI recently purchased phone, which should have been unlocked and i should be able to put my sim card in adn use functions as normal..... well i can put my sim in and use the phone but why can't i connect to the internet or social networking function??? I am at the moment unhappy with the product what can you do to help me fix this problem???( accessing the internet etc...) I have not and will not leave feedback just yet.

I am with the Telstra Pre-paid network

A:

Please understand the internet setting is network dependent and the carrier (optus, or telstra) should be able to provide support in the setting. As we do not know which network our customer is with so we were not able to put the setting into the unlocked phone.
However, we are happy to assist you in setting up the phone according to your network now that you have provided those info.

Please turn on your phone and have the telstra sim card in the phone. Please make sure you have internet data allowances in your plan.

Select Menu > setting > Connectivity > Access Points > Options > Add New

You can then enter your carrier’s settings as specified below.

Telstra Internet Manual Settings:

Name (connection title) : Telstra Internet
Bearer: UMTS
Authentication: No auth
APN: Telstra.internet ---> Please make sure it's Capital T

Save the setting and then go Select Menu > setting > Connectivity > Internet profiles > Options > Add New

Service name: Telstra Internet
Use proxy: Off
Access Point: select "Telstra Internet" we just created.

Save the setting

Now open the browser > settings > Profiles > add profile

Service name: Telstra
Homepage: http://wap.telstra.com/wap
Internet profile: select Telstra Internet

Save the setting

Now turn off the phone and turn it back on and enter an address to try out the internet connection e.g www.google.com

* To Set up MMS manually:

You can then enter your carrier’s MMS settings as specified below.
Select Menu > setting > Connectivity > Access Points > Options > Add New

Name (connection title) : Telstra MMS
Bearer: GPRS
Authentication: PAP
Leave the User name and Password black
APN: Telstra.mms ---> Please make sure it's Capital T

Save the setting and then go Select Menu > setting > Connectivity > Internet profiles > Options > Add New

Service name: Telstra MMS
Use proxy: On
Proxy server address: 010.001.001.180
Proxy server port: 80
Access Point: select "Telstra MMS" we just created.

Save the setting and then go

Menu > Messaging > Message Settings > Multimedia Message > MMS Centre > Options > Add New

- Connection Title: Telstra mms
- MMSC URL: http://mmsc.telstra.com:8002
- Internet profile: Telstra MMS

Save it and turn off the phone and turn it back on.

Now you should have full access to telstra services
